Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Tuned, They Replaced the Fuchs Wheels

Just when we though the Porsche 911 line-up, which will grow past 20 models next year when the facelift arrives, has something for every specific taste, a tuned example from Indonesia comes to ruin this thought. Believe it or not, somebody bought a 911 50th Anniversary and decided the car just isn’t special enough, so it had it tuned.

Aftermarket touches are always subjective matters, but when you see a 50th Anniversary stripped of its Fuchs wheels in order to ride on aftermarket units, you know something’s wrong. For the sake of Zuffenhausen, somebody made quite an effort to install a pair of Fuchs wheels on the 911 Targa, while this 50th Anniversary lost them in favor of Techart units. Sure, the tuner is no stranger to Porsches, but its Formula IV wheels simply can’t match all the history behind these Porsche rims.

Since we’re here, we’ll mention that Prosche’s Fuchsfelge story goes all the way back to the 1960s. The Germans were looking for wheels to fit the 911 and since the cast-aluminum didn’t meet their engineering requirements, they turned to Otto Fuchs, who offered them the first mass-produced forged aluminum wheels. By the way, you might know these by the name of windmill wheels (we've also attached a few images of a stock 911 50th Anniversary, so you can spot the difference).

As if that wasn’t enough, the owner of this 911 50th Anniversary also installed a custom exhaust. While we understand the man’s desire for extra aural pleasure, the colored tips break away with the 911’s understated visual identity.

It’s a pity then that we are talking about an exhaust coming from IPE, which packs quite a technical punch - the system is made of Inconel, the material of choice for F1 engines.
