1000hp Lightning Yellow Nissan GT-R Skyline V-Spec

1000hp Lightning Yellow Nissan GT-R Skyline V-Spec
The fifth-generation Nissan GT-R Skyline was introduced in 1999 and is often considered as one of the best cars to have emerged out of Japan. The V-Spec variant brought about a firmer suspension setup and came equipped with the ATTESA E-TS Pro system.
Australia’s Mercury Motorsport workshop owners Trent and Tessa own one such model of the R34 Skyline V-Spec, which they acquired from a client in 2009.

“At the time it had a Tomei 2.8 stroker in it with a T04Z,” Tessa states. “We upgraded the turbo to a GT45R and soon enough it had 940hp at all four wheels.”
Subsequently, they teamed up with Nitto Performance Engineering for the next stage, to further increase the power of the car. Tessa says “Nitto Performance Engineering came on board. We put a Nitto 2.7 stroker engine in, teaming it with a larger GT47R turbo and producing nearly 1100hp at the wheels.”
She further explains the yellow Skyline’s story saying “After that we decided to make the GT-R more street worthy. It was used for extensive R&D for our business, trialling various turbo/wastegate/manifold combinations with a standard RB26DETT bottom end. We ended up netting 850hp at all four on E85 fuel.”
“It was running this setup for around six months until the standard oil pump let go, which was a pity. We knew that something was going to give up internally sooner or later under that much pressure (43psi), so on the side we were building up the monster engine that’s in it today.”

The engine in the car presently features a Nitto 3.2 stroker kit fitted in a custom modified RB30 block. Furthermore, there are upgraded valves, valve springs and retainers with custom camshafts. A plethora of other customisations- from the exhaust system to the suspension, have enabled the car to produce in excess of 1000 hp.
“It has a lot of torque for an RB due to the 3.2 bottom end, and it’s surprisingly responsive,” Tessa comments. “From down low in the rev range right up to redline it’s an absolute handful under boost – throws you back hard into the seat! Such an adrenaline rush.”

Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R by RACE!

RACE! South Africa is an absolute authority in exotic car tuning in that part of the world. We have shown of some of their finest works before, now lest’s check out the latest high-end project they have pulled off. It is a heavily tricked-out Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R, the first in South Africa, and equipped with a whole host of extras.
When you are dealing with a Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R the job is fitting the wide body kit alone is humongous enough to exhaust all the resources of a tuner. For RACE! though, it seems to have been a walk in the park, because after they were through with the body, they set about upgrading the car’s chassis and performance.
The wide body kit on the Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R obviously required some serious chassis modifications, chief among which were the installation of an Airrex air suspension system and a set of ultra-wide Forgiato wheels. Next up was the engine tuning, for which RACE! turned to HKS and one of their 1,000-hp turbo packages, plus a custom exhaust system from Armytrix. High-performance Toyot tires and even higher-performance Brembo brakes were added to the mix in order to keep this beast in check.
The styling treatment meanwhile includes the signature LB-Performance wide fenders with exposed bolt apparatus, sport vented bonnet, custom front and rear bumpers, and new side skirts. For this car the tuner chose the ducktail rear spoiler rather than the GT3-style wing.

Bagged Nissan Quest On Vossen Wheels Could Start A New Trend

The 'vanning' craze begun in the USA, but ended up in Japan.
Now, it seems that Vossen wants to teach some Japanese van culture in the land of muscle cars and hot USDMs.
Every ongoing trend was adopted and refined by various tuners straight from the streets, and the Japanese seem to be the best at coming up with outrageous motoring movements. That said, it’s just a matter of time before the next big thing hits the scene straight from Japan.
Mind you, this clash of cultures is present everywhere, as US and European folk adopt Japanese trends and vice-versa. In fact, the U.S. motoring culture has a lot of followers in Japan.
Anyway, with this mad, bagged Nissan Quest, Vossen wants to raise awareness about this unexplored part of Japanese car culture.
Like in other major car segments, van tuning is divided in several categories. Anyone can go from old-school to airbrushed, to Kei and to American, but it seems the VIP approach is getting the most of it.
Vans such as this Nissan Quest get the same treatment as any “regular” VIP Japanese luxobarge - aggressive wheel fitment, aggressive low stance and an air suspension to drop it to the ground. An oxymoron approach to something that should have been a comfortable means of transportation, don’t you think?
A clean look with a darker color is always preferred, as a VIP needs to make a statement without standing out from the crowd. Mind you, with a dropped, murdered-out van sitting on Vossen VFS1 wheels, it’s kind of hard to go unnoticed.
