Only recently we reported that Chevrolet is selling the 2015 Corvette in Germany for a hefty €74,500. In box standard format, the halo sportscar from the golden bowtie is a 466 hp / 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) brute.
Coupled to the seven-speed manual, those figures translate to a 4.2-second stint to 100 km/h (62 mph). Although it’s not known how fast the all-new Z06 accelerates to 100 km/h with its 650 ponies and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque, the Hennessey HPE700 Corvette is more powerful than the 2015 Corvette Z06.
With 700 horsepower and 950 Nm (700 lb-ft) on tap from its supercharged 6.2-liter small-block V8 engine, this bad boy can gallop to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. But the most impressive figure is the 13.4 liters / 100 km (17 US mpg) it drinks on the combined cycle.
The HPE700 package isn’t all about bolting a mechanical compressor on top of the engine
Hennessey’s German division also adds an intercooler and an enlarged oil cooler, a new camshaft and tougher cylinder heads, valves made of titanium, a high flow air intake, as well as an upgraded ECU and a stainless steel sport exhaust system. While the standard HPE700 package includes some serialized plaques, HPE badging and carbon fiber door sills, the Essen show car benefits from go-faster visuals.
Those black-painted HRE forged wheels are the icing of the cake. Look closer and you’ll see some new aerodynamics-enhancing parts as well. Hennessey CarbonAero front and rear lips spoilers and the carbon fiber wing at the rear are the highlights. Like any other car souped up by Hennessey of Germany, every HPE700 Corvette benefits from a three-year/ 60,000-kilometer warranty for the tuned powertrain.
