Feast
your eyes on one of the rarest cars in the world: a G-Wagen Limo!
Granted, it’s not a full-on limo, but this elongated Mercedes G55 AMG – a
creation of German tuning firm ART – is the closest thing you can get
to such a thing.
ART’s Mercedes G55 AMG Long was made
under the Program463, a codename we suspect was given to the project
just to make it sound cooler. The outcome is a mighty impressive bit of
kit.The standard G-Wagen is a massive and imposing thing, but this long
version takes things to a whole new level. In many ways, it is a rival
for Mercedes’ own AMG 6×6 G63.
The extra length of the ART Mercedes G55
AMG Long is put to good use, creating huge leg room for the rear
passengers and a bigger boot. The car also sports a full on ART body
kit, including bespoke bumpers, grilles, and running boards.
Mercedes G55 AMG is powered by the now
obsolete 5.5 liter AMG supercharged V8, which from 2000 to 2009 powered a
whole range of marvelous AMG machines. In its basic form, this engine
makes 492 horsepower. The ART version is probably boosted to around 600.
