Tops out at 300 km/h
German tuner VATH has applied its know-how on the Mercedes-Benz
E500 Cabriolet.
The current generation E-Class is on its way to a
well-deserved retirement, but that didn't stop VATH from revitalizing the
cabriolet body style by applying a power package on the already potent E500
model. This sinister black mid-size open-top from Daimler has received the
tuner's V50RS kit which has bumped output of the V8 4.7-liter bi-turbo engine
from the series 408 PS (300 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) to 550 PS (405 kW) and a
massive tire-shredding 830 Nm (613 lb-ft) of torque.
The power hike is available for a cool €10,591 and also
includes an electronic top speed limiter removal which enables the unrestricted
E500 Cabriolet to hit 186 mph (300 km/h). Those willing to pay an extra €4,629
can also opt for the tuner's stainless steel exhaust system featuring a rear
silencer and two oval pipes on each side for a menacing look.
Other goodies on the menu include a €2,011 carbon rear diffuser and a set of €618 lowering springs that bring the cabriolet closer to the road
by 30mm. For an additional €5,355, VATH is offering VA six-piston brake
calipers matched with 390mm discs, but keep in mind these are compatible with
wheels of at least 19-inch in size. Speaking of rims, the show car rides on a
larger 20-inch set shod in 235/30R20 in front and 275/25R20 rear tires
while rounding off the exterior changes is a €1,761 carbon fiber trunk lip
spoiler.
