Just prior to SEMA 2014 kicking off next week, American tuner Vorsteiner has officially unveiled its widebody BMW M4 dubbed the Special Edition GTRS4. Just yesterday, we saw pictures of the car taking shape and now we can enjoy it in all its glory.
Vorsteiner is no stranger to creating widebody kits for high-performance BMWs having previously done so with the E92-generation M3. Despite previous experience, Vorsteiner started the design of the GTRS4 from a blank sheet of paper and focused specifically on maintaining the organic design of the M4 but with extreme aggression all while maintaining its everyday driveability.
To begin the process, Vorsteiner 3D scanned the entire body of an Austin Yellow BMW M4 Coupe with advanced laser technology. CNC prototypes of the new components were then created to perfectly fit the vehicle. As for the rear quarter panels and the flared arches, they were carved seamlessly from clay before being made in carbon fibre.
Through the extensive Vorsteiner upgrades, the front fenders are now two inches wider each side over stock while at the rear they are 3.5 inches wider each side. Thanks to this, the Special Edition GTRS4 rides on massive 20×10.5 inch wheels at the front with 275 tyres and 20×13.5 inch at the rear with a monstrous 345 width tyres! These tyres are also Pirelli P Zero’s to ensure maximum traction.
Further visual modifications include a carbon fibre front bumper with an integrated splitter, carbon fibre aero side blades, a carbon rear bumper and rear diffuser. Elsewhere, Vorsteiner trunk badging adorns the Special Edition GTRS4 as well as 90 mm quad exhaust tips.
Performance wise, Vorsteiner added a potent KW Suspension sleeve kit to allow for height adjustment as well as ESS Tuning’s E-Tronic system to lift power up from 425 hp at the crank to 550 hp!
