It's no longer a secret what the
sixth-gen Mustang holds in store for expecting customers. We know how
much it weighs, what powerplants it boasts with, the fake engine noise
sent through the 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang's audio system
and such.
Even so, some 'Stang customers want more visual drama from their ponies
and that's where the Roush Performance team comes on scene with its RS,
RS1 and RS2 packages. What Roush calls the R7 is what us folks call the
seventh-generation aero-body package developed by Roush for the iconic
pony.
Starting with the 2015 Roush RS Mustang, the RS is a visual package specially designed for the basic V6-powered model. Priced at $4,495
excluding the donor car (priced from $23,600), the Roush RS is boasting
with the same 300 horsepower as the standard car, but adds a touch of
striking styling, including the 2015 Roush front fascia, five-blade
upper grille, chin splitter and high-flow lower grille, together with
special driving lamps, a plethora of Roush badging and a neat decklid
spoiler.
Furthermore, even this most basic RS pack is offered with a
3-year/36,000-mile warranty, which is a tell-tale sign that Roush
Performance is confident in its new line of products. As for the
mid-range $5,895 Stage 1 (RS1) model, Roush adds
slightly more dramatic aesthetic goodies and Roush-designed quad-tip
performance exhaust system. Of course, Roush offers a few optionals on
the RS1 Mustang, including 20-inch wheels, super sticky rubber, hood
graphics and body side scoops, just to name a few of them.
In addition to those, the American tuner also offers a neat optional
extra for the RS1 and RS2 customer, coming in the form of an Activ8
active exhaust that's boasting with Apptiv Technology. Mind you, the
hood scoop and quarter window scoops are optionals as well, so you'll
have to pay a bit of dough in order to make your pony look like the one
in the photo gallery below. For the range-topping $8,495 Stage 3 RS3 Mustang,
Roush offers this bad boy with the standard kit detailed above
(including the quad-tip performance exhaust system) and 20-inch
Quicksilver rollers wrapped in and Cooper RS3 rubber.
Roush announced that all Stage Mustangs will first be available in
manual coupes with convertible chassis and automatic transmissions to
follow at a later date, with deliveries to start in November.
