We
absolutely love the idea of restomoding simply because it gives you all
that is good about the cars of yesteryear (i.e. the looks) with none of
the mechanical troubles. So although Cartech’s VW Beetle Convertible
restomod is based on a rather hateful car, we still fancy it quite a
bit.
This restomoded Beetle (Käfer, in German)
comes with a completely restored and repainted body, a rebuilt engine,
new and modern suspension and brake systems, wheels, interior, sound
system, the lot. Crucially though, the tuner has maintained all the
original design cues, even the soft-top roof. The material is new, but
the arrangement is as it was on the original car.
The engine in this VW Beetle Convertible
restomod is a Typ1 1303S series unit with Weber 44 carburetor, good for
100 PS. The car’s dynamics is enhanced through the use of KW coilover
suspension, 15 inch Fuchs alloy wheels, and powerful front and rear disc
brakes. Completing the package and enhancing the driving pleasure of
this car is a full leather interior and a Stage II sounds system.
