WALDOW
Performance is the tuning arm of a German Autohaus or dealership
representing Renault since the Sixties. They have now put together a
nice upgrade kit for the fourth-generation Renault Clio RS which boosts
the sporting appeal of the little hatchback.
Building hot hatches is in Renault’s
blood, and although in recent years their priorities have somewhat
shifted from pure performance-mindedness to making their cars more
gadgety and geeky, there is still some of that old magic in the new
Renault Clio RS that makes it a superior choice to the rivals. What
WALDOW does is put back some of the lost lunacy back in to Clio. So
when you open the rear hatch on this Smurf Blue Clio RS you find that
there is no real boot as such and no rear seats at all.
The rear compartment is filled with red
scaffolding (roll cage) and there is a sort of cubbyhole where your
groceries usually go with room for two racing helmets. That, then,
explain the use of racing bucket seats at the front complete with
four-point harness. The car also gets that blue wrap, front and rear
spoilers, and an Alcantara steering wheel inside the cabin, but the
biggest change is optimized engine software and NAP sport-exhaust with
sound control.
In terms of handling tweaks, the 220
horsepower WALDOW’s Renault Clio RS comes with widened front and rear
tracks, KW Clubsport suspension with adjustable rebound and compression,
aluminum strut brace for the engine compartment and Brembo brakes.
WALDOW is also working on new turbochargers and downpipes so that they
can justify the 41,000 EUR price tag of this car.
