CR Supercars unveils heavily modified 1969 Camaro with 505 bhp LS7 crate engine
Classic Recreations through its CR Supercars division has taken the wraps off the CR1 Camaro at SEMA in Las Vegas.It started life as a standard 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, but it went through an in-depth restoration process and now has new Dynacorn body panels combined with CR Supercars-designed front fascia and rear spoiler. Eddie Motorsports was in charge of providing the hood hinges, door handles and billet taillight frames while the matte blue metallic paint comes from BASF Glasurit.
The stock engine is gone as it has been replaced by an LS7 pushing out 505 bhp (376 kW) channeled to the wheels through a six-speed Tremec manual gearbox. It may look like a retro car on the outside, but underneath the classic skin are modern components such as the tubular a-arm front suspension and 4-link rear suspension with adjustable coilovers for both axles. Stopping power comes from Wilwood’s 6-piston calipers teamed up with 14-inch rotors hiding behind the 18-inch Forgeline wheels shod in 275/35/18 front and 335/30/18 rear BFGoodrich Rival tires.
Photos of the cabin are not available at this point, but CR Supercars is telling us the CR1 Camaro has an 8-point roll cage, Procar Evolution seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel from Flaming River. In addition, Classic Instruments installed new gauges specifically designed for this car and with a 200 mph speedometer to better reflect the car’s added grunt.
