Chevrolet turbocharges a 67 Nova for SEM
Chevrolet has unveiled a turbocharged 1967 Nova 2.0 for SEMA.Designed to demonstrate the "evolution of high-performance and the latest in crate-engine technology," the model has been equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 272 bhp (202 kW). That doesn't sound like much but Chevrolet says it's more powerful than the 4.6-liter V8 engine that was originally offered in the model. Furthermore, the four-cylinder crate engine is almost as powerful as the 275 bhp (205 kW) 5.3-liter V8 that was offered in the Nova SS.
Besides the modern engine, the car's four-speed transmission has been replaced by a new six-speed manual. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds.
On the styling front, the car has a Black Gold exterior with a billet aluminum grille, shaved door handles and custom 17-inch Z/28-style wheels with a satin bronze finish. The car also has an air bag suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and "narrowed and tucked" bumpers.
