One
of the finest tuner cars we admittedly missed altogether at the Geneva
Motor Show 2016 was the awesome Brabus Mercedes GLE 63 AMG, boasting a
performance as well as a visual package tailored for the new SUV.
Brabus’s GLE (new M-Class) is internally called B63S and it features a
700 performance kit.
Those with a good knowledge of what’s
going on in the world of tuning know that a 700 power kit by Brbaus
means the car in question has 700 horsepower. In the case of Brabus
Mercedes GLE 63 AMG the modifications that have resulted in this massive
power gain include larger turbochargers with more boost,
high-performance intake and charge-air pipes, BRABUS Gold Heat
Reflection sheathing, engine mapping, and exhaust system featuring
free-flow metal catalysts and down pipes with a diameter of 75
millimeters, among other changes.
The net result of all this is 700 PS and
960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of peak torque, which translates into a 0-100 km/h
time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). If that’s not
enough Brabus also offers an 850 horsepower package which drops the
0-100 time to 3.8 seconds and ups the top speed to 320 km/h.
Besides the power upgrade, Brabus
Mercedes GLE 63 AMG also gets a, as always, cool and understated aero
kit consisting of front spoiler lip, side air intake, tailor-made air
deflectors with integrated LED side markers, naked carbon components,
rear diffuser insert, and a roof spoiler. The kit is then complemented
with a set of 21, 22 and even 23 inch wheels. Brbaus recommendation for
this vehicle is 11×23 “PLATINUM EDITION” monoblock rims, plus modified
AIRMATIC air suspension which drops the ride height by 35 mm.
Last but not least, the B63S gets an
exclusive interior treatment with leather, carbon, wood, aluminum, or
pretty much anything that takes your fancy. The treatment also includes
aluminum door-lock pins and pedals as well as stainless-steel scuff
plates, illuminated, of course.
