Restomoding
was first invented in America where there is a great market for
upgraded and modernized classic cars with old looks but up to date
underpinnings. It’s a worldwide trend now, and as you’d expect the
Europeans have perfected it to an art, on the evidence of this 1972
Porsche 911 F-Series upgraded by German firm KAEGE.
You can think of KAEGE’s classic 911 as a European Singer 911.
Just like that American creation, this car features custom body panels
made from carbon fiber which stay for the most part loyal to the
original shape, but improve on it ever so slightly while resulting in a
significant weight saving. The whole car weighs no more than 1,195 kg.
While keeping the gearbox, suspension,
brakes, and the chassis in their original forms, KEGE has swapped the
engine in this 1972 Porsche 911 with an air-cooled 3.6 liters unit from a
much newer model. It makes 300 horsepower which combined with the light
weight of the vehicle results in pretty awesome performance. It’s more
than just a pretty face, this car.
But it’s the attention to details,
really, that sets this bad boy apart and make it such a desirable
object. Take the classic looking headlights, for example. Although they
look retro, they feature Osram LED technology. The same goes for the
interior where despite the vintage look you find Becker navigation and
Recaro seats. We should not forget the FUCHS alloys and the KW
coilovers, as they are among the top highlights of this car.
