The covers have just been taken off the 2015 Shelby Mustang Super Snake. The Super Snake name has become synonymous with extremely powerful Mustang variants and for the 2015 model year and the sixth-generation car, it is absolutely no different.
To create the 2015 Shelby Mustang Super Snake, Shelby begin with the standard Mustang GT and its 5.0-litre V8 engine. The firm then installs a powerful Ford Performance supercharger as well as a Borla exhaust. For customers looking for even more performance, a larger supercharger can also be installed and when combined with an upgraded intercooler and heat exchanger system, it lifts power to over 750 hp on regular petrol. Whichever engine upgrade is selected, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission driving the rear wheels is provided.
Beyond the performance modifications which also include 6-piston Wilwood brakes and custom suspension components, the American muscle car incorporates a host of visual changes. A refreshed front fascia is included among the changes as is a sharp front splitter and a bold bonnet with a large air intake.
Elsewhere, a range of aftermarket wheels are offered while the rear features a prominent spoiler, newly designed exhausts and a different rear diffuser.
Discussing the car, Shelby American vice president of marketing Gary Schechner said “The first generation Shelby Super Snakes are among the hottest collectible cars in history. With the success and press praise garnered by the launch of our 2015 Shelby GT earlier this year, not to mention the positive feedback and customer demand for even more performance, we’re excited to make a limited number of these high-performance cars available. And now that we’re offering an automatic transmission option, we expect even more people to be able to enjoy the Shelby Super Snake experience without needing to be bothered with a stick shift. Carroll would have loved this car.”
