730 Nm on tap

HPerformance has elaborated a comprehensive power kit for the range-topping R32 version of the fourth generation Volkswagen Golf.
For legitimate reasons, tuners nowadays mostly focus on cars that are currently on sale, but HPerformance likes to do things a bit differently and they spent some time with a Golf IV R32 and its highly appraised V6 3.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. It now has a HPA EFR550 turbocharger along with a revised software which has bumped output from the series 240 PS (177 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) to no less than 550 PS (404 kW) and a tire-shredding 730 Nm (539 lb-ft) of torque channeled to the same 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
There's no word about the hot hatchback's performances after implementing this serious power boost, but it should be significantly quicker than the stock Golf IV R32 which back in the day needed 6.6 seconds for the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and topped out at 153 mph (247 km/h).
There's more to the story than just a power hike as this particular car has also gone through a series of other upgrades, including KW variant 2 coilovers, 19-inch HRE alloy wheels, H&R stabilizers, larger front wings, custom water-cooled intake manifold, new exhaust with 90mm end pipes along with an electronically adjustable boost controller which enables a variable air charge compression.
Those who still have a standard VW Golf IV R32 should know HPerformance is asking approximately €35,000 for all these upgrades.
