2016 BMW M2 M Performance parts detailed ahead of Geneva debut

The all-new 2016 BMW M2 now has its requisite M Performance styling and handling pack, detailed this week ahead of a Geneva motor show debut in March.
Full to overflowing with carbonfibre goodness, the M2’s M Performance pack adds a number of aerodynamic and styling parts, along with interior goodies and a number of mechanical tricks under the skin.
On the outside of the enhanced BMW M2, there’s exposed-pattern carbonfibre wings at the front and along the side, and carbon mirror covers, matched to a new rear diffuser and boot-lip spoiler. There’s also a gloss black finish to the main grille and side gill ports.

In the cabin, there’s BMW M Performance LED door sill covers, along with M Performance floor mats and stainless steel pedal covers.
Interior enhancements wouldn’t be complete without the addition of an Alcantara-trimmed M Performance steering wheel, though, and this one offers two options: the M Performance Pro with meatier grips and central rim marking, along with the choice of open-pore carbon-fibre trim.
The next option along is the M Performance wheel with integrated race display and even more carbonfibre trim, as standard. The small display offers details for section and lap times longitudinal and transverse acceleration, while light strips either side of the screen act as a gear shift indicator.

An M Performance flap silencer system is also on offer, with its Bluetooth-enabled Sport and Track modes building the aural delights of the M2’s 272kW/465Nm turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six.
At the rear, the M Performance exhaust pack can be had with 80mm high-gloss tailpipes with a perforated inner pipe, or with 93mm carbonfibre trim. Both bear an integrated BMW M logo.
M Performance coil-spring suspension is also featured, promising improved road holding and handling, along with a ride height that can be lowered by five to 20mm. The shock absorbers can likewise be adjusted by 16 levels in rebound and 12 levels in compression.
Long-distance racing-derived M Performance sports brake pads are also on offer, claiming a “particularly” high resistance to thermal stress.
