Much to the delight of BMW M fans who never got an M7, Alpina revealed their own high-performance 7 Series
variant in form of the 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive. The car is sort of an
all-in-one luxury performance saloon with a lot of style and a huge
turn of speed.
The heart of BMW Alpina B7 is the
familiar 4.4 liter 8-cylinder bi-turbo engine used in BMW M products,
tuned by Alpina to 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It gives the
car a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of
193 mph which is one the par with most serious super sedans in the
market. Among the highlights of the engine there are Alpina air intake
system, indirect intercooler system, NGK spark plugs, and stainless
steel Alpina sport exhaust system.
BMW Alpina B7 xDrive is also a work of
art in terms of dynamics. A lot of work has gone into retuning the 7
Series chassis and suspension for top handling. The package features
four-wheel-drive, 2-axle air suspension, Dynamic Damper Control and
Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview, Active Roll Stabilization Integral
Active Steering system, and Electronic Damper Control. The car also
comes with 20-spoke ALPINA CLASSIC and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires
as well as blue painted 4-piston fixed calipers on the front axle.
But regardless of all the technical
stuff, the main reason for buying the BMW Alpina B7 is the way it looks.
The car features all the lovely, yummy Alpina design features we all
know and love, and they all fit the 7er really well. You get a subtle
aero kit, Alpina wheels and stripes, two elliptical twin tailpipes, and
exclusive Alpina colors including metallic blue and green. The same goes
for the classically beautiful interior where you find Nappa leather and
ceramic inserts.
