German
tuning guru Mcchip-DKR has applied their stage two power upgrade kit to
a Porsche 997 Turbo with astounding results. The car arrived at their
headquarters packing a standard 480 PS and 620 Nm of torque, and it left
with 569 PS and 800 Nm.
Being a stage two program, this kit only
include a modest software upgrade and sport exhaust system. The software
is Mcchip’s own and it helps the flat-six turbocharged engine in this
Porsche 997 Turbo to make better use of the custom exhaust system which
comes from Cargraphic. If you want something meatier in terms of power,
you need to order a higher stage upgrade with modified turbochargers and
air intake system.
This program reminds us how sweet the
Porsche 997 Turbo still is. This car is basically two models out of
date now, what with the new 991.2 Turbo Facelift model now available.
But if you don’t care about having the latest version, there is still
plenty of life left in the 997 generation 911. Plenty life and plenty of
fun to be had, especially now that the launch of newer models has
reduced the price of these older examples.
