Callaway Competition has introduced their new Corvette C7 GT3-R at the Hockenheimring.
Set to enter competition next year, the model replaces the Callaway Z06.R GT3 and features an aggressive carbon fiber widebody that was created by designer Paul Deutschman.
Callaway was tight-lipped on specifics but confirmed the car has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 600 bhp (447 kW).  It is connected to an X-Trac six-speed sequential transmission and the company says the car has surpassed "its predicted performance."
In a statement, Callaway Competition managing partners Ernst Wöhr and Giovanni Ciccone said "We wanted to set another milestone in our company’s history with our new design, developing and constructing a future-proof vehicle that will be produced from 2016 and used for many years to come. As a small, privately owned team, we knew from the outset that approaching a project of this magnitude would be very daring. Therefore, first and foremost, we have to thank our employees and partners who have made it possible to finally set the C7 GT3-R on its wheels.
