Mercedes
does not seem very keen on the idea of a roadster AMG GT, so if you
want a drop-top super GT with a three-pointed star on its nose, your
best bet still is the mighty Mercedes SLS Roadster. But if the standard car doesn’t grab you like you would like, we have a tricked out version here that might.
What we have here is the TAG Motorsports
Mercedes SLS Roadster which, to all intents and purposes, is the
ultimate expression of what the SLS can be. The car features subtle
visual and chassis modifications as well as a meaty performance package
that makes it more lively, and therefore more fun, than the regular
version.
In terms of power and performance, TAG
Motorsports Mercedes SLS Roadster benefits from a RENNtech R2
performance kit including ECU upgrade, stainless steel long tube headers
with 200 cell cats, and X-Pipe. It ups the output of the 6.3 liter
naturally aspirated V8 from 563 horsepower to 620 horsepower with 522
lb-ft of torque.
In an effort to keep the beast in check
after giving it 80 more horses to devour, the tuner has fitted the SLS
with H&R lowering springs and a set of wide ADV5.0 MV2CS measuring
20 inch up front and 21 inch out back. The wheels (wrapped with 265
tires on the front and 305 on the rear) are finished in matte brown
which complements nicely the black-out cosmetic package of the body.
